New Artwork from SRPMIC Member Jeffrey Fulwilder

Enrolled Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) member and artist, Jeffrey Fulwilder, has numerous art pieces throughout Salt River. A newly installed art piece called “Water Baskets” is now displayed at the front desk at the Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale Salt River.

When asked why Jeffrey incorporated water in the design, Fulwilder said, “water is significant to all tribes everywhere, it represents life and everything on this earth drinks water.” Alix Smith, CEO of Salt River Devco, added it was important for them to incorporate Community culture within the artwork in their hotels, including baskets and patterns that are specific to SRPMIC. “We want everybody to know that they’re in a property located within SRPMIC and it’s not like anywhere else,” Smith said.
