Opening Day at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick will be the Spring Training season opener for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. Featuring a celebration of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Day, also known as SRPMIC Day.
The pre-game ceremony will include SRPMIC basket dancers, the National Anthem performed in the O’odham language by Sistine Lewis, former Miss Indian Arizona. Salt River Council members will be in attendance with SRPMIC President Martin Harvier throwing out the first pitch. Along the concourse Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community artists Raeann Brown, Alice Manuel, and August Wood will demonstrate traditional basketry and SRPMIC artist Dwayne Manuel will showcasing a live painting in the outfield concourse.
